Admin Biographies
Bio-Lori Hawthorne Principal
Dr. Lori Hawthorne was appointed Principal of Davis High School in July of 2022. Hawthorne holds a B.A. in Mathematics and English from Carroll College, a M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership -- both from the University of Utah -- and an Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Northwest Nazarene University. Hawthorne taught high school Mathematics and English and was an assistant girls basketball coach. In Davis School District she has held positions of Mathematics Curriculum Supervisor, Assistant Director of Research and Assessment, Principal of Crestview Elementary, and Principal of Central Davis Junior High.
Bio-Mark Jolley Vice Principal
Mark Jolley is a proud graduate of Weber State University. After graduating, he began his educational career as a special education teacher at Sunset Jr. High. He eventually moved to the high school level to continue teaching as well as coaching track and cross country. Mr. Jolley returned to school and earned his M.ED in Educational Leadership from Utah State University. He has been an Assistant Principal at several high schools in the Davis School District and is very excited to be working with the students and community at Davis High.
Bio- Amanda Taggart Vice Principal
Amanda Taggart joins Davis High School after serving as the principal at Jennie P. Stewart Elementary in Centerville. Ms. Taggart earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Northeastern State University, a M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Colorado, and a M.S. in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University. She also holds endorsements in Reading, Advanced Reading, Educational Technology, and STEM. Amanda has previously served as a classroom teacher, college English instructor, reading specialist, and administrator throughout Colorado, Oklahoma, and Utah. Amanda is honored to join the Davis High School community and to be a part of DHS's tradition of excellence.
Bio - Douglas Peterson Vice Principal
Doug Peterson is proud to join the team at Davis High School after years working in junior high schools (Sunset, Kaysville, Legacy, Syracuse). He has degrees from Emporia State, Weber State, and Utah State. He taught P.E. and health for 15 years, as well as coaching basketball and track. He has a wife and 3 children. They love camping and boating.
Bio - Mackenzie Loo Vice Principal
Mackenzie Loo is excited to return to the community where she started her educational career. Mackenzie taught 5th Grade at Burton Elementary for five years before pursuing administration. She has been the administrative Intern at Holbrook and Taylor Elementary for the last three years and is excited to begin her journey in secondary schools. She is proud to join the Davis High School team and get to know the students and community.
