Dear Parents,
It's that time of year to register your child for kindergarten! We are thrilled to welcome your little one into our school community and embark on this wonderful journey of learning and growing together.
As a reminder, in order to meet the age requirements for kindergarten in Utah, your child must be five (5) years of age on or before September 1st. Additionally, with the passing of HB331, beginning on May 1, 2024, students are required to be toilet trained before being enrolled in kindergarten. Parents will sign an Assurance Document at the time of registration stating their student meets this requirement.
We are excited to offer full-day kindergarten to all our students as well as a half-day option to accommodate the needs of our families. Here's a brief overview of each program:
Full-Day Kindergarten: Students attending full-day kindergarten will follow a schedule equivalent to the other grades in school. They will receive comprehensive instruction on the state-approved standards in all content areas, including the arts, PE, computer, science, and library.
Half-Day Kindergarten: Students attending either a dedicated half-day kindergarten class (requires 19 or more to register for the option) OR half-day kindergarten embedded within a full-day kindergarten class will attend school for part of the day as determined by individual schools (ours will be morning ONLY) and will receive instruction that prioritizes the state-approved standards for the content areas of English language arts and mathematics as required by R277-730. Please note that midday transportation will not be provided for those attending half-day kindergarten options.
Although you may register a student for kindergarten at any time, for planning purposes, we have established February 18 - 21, 2025, as Sand Springs Kindergarten Registration for In Boundary Students. Office hours will be M-Th 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM and Fri. 9 AM - 3:00 PM. Davis School District has set a cutoff date of February 28, 2025 for priority registration to determine what type of half-day option will be available.
All of our registration materials can be found on our school website at Registration / Sand Springs Elementary. You can expedite the process by printing the forms and completing them at home before coming to register. You will also need the following:
Proof of Residency
Photo ID
Original Birth Certificate
Immunization Record
Please fill out this brief interest survey Sand Springs Kindergarten Interest to indicate your kindergarten program of choice. You will be notified in March of your child's schedule in your kindergarten program of choice (Full-Day or Half-Day). At that time, you will be provided more details of schedules and other pertinent information. Classroom teacher assignments will not be made until after Kindergarten testing in August.
We want to assure you that all kindergarten students (Full or Half-Day) will be invited to participate in class parties, after school events/activities, and field trips, ensuring a rich and engaging experience for your child.
